Kick-Off Event at H&M (TVFU)

Tonight marked the beginning of Teen Vogue Fashion University, with a kick-off shopping event at H&M on Lexington ave and E59th Street.  Students upon students lined up stylishly clad of course outside waiting to enter H&M. I attended the event with one of my friends and fellow LIM College student Bianca. Upon arrival H&M was now  transformed into all things Teen Vogue, with a DJ spinning on the 1’s and 2’s, a step-and- repeat where fashion blogger and Teen Vogue intern  Rachel Schwartzmann of (The Style Line) held down the fort, and cute little servers with snacks  and mocktails keeping us refreshed throughout the night.  With 25% off all merchandise for students you know the only thing on my mind was to shop till’ I dropped, well at least in my mind that’s what I thought, but unfortunately my pockets were singing another tune.  Fortunately I was still able to purchase an item or two so I didn’t leave empty handed. As I made my way upstairs a booth was set up to make DIY (Do It Yourself) bracelets; which were too cute! I was able to make two black ones with gold and silver spikes and  the initials TVFU (Teen Vogue Fashion University)  to always remember this experience. Capping the night was a performance by Indie-Rock and alternative band (BlondFire).  All in all the night was a success, and I had a really good time. Now I’m off to bed because Day one of Teen Vogue Fashion University starts tomorrow, and I have to be there at 8am….wish  me luck on that! Only joking of course…anyways I will be twitting live during tomorrow’s classes and putting my instagram to good use as well.

Acceptance into Teen Vogue Fashion University 2012

I am writing this post a bit delayed due to the many things that have been happening lately. I know I have been neglecting my blog and now I feel its time to get serious about it and really expand. Usually I have used my Tumblr account (Http://MissLedMadness.tumblr.com/) to blog from, but I feel I have grown from that and it's time to take the next step.  On to bigger and better things, none the less I am still greatly in shock, honored and blessed for the opportunity. I have been accepted to Teen Vogue Fashion University, I still can’t believe it. I received the acceptance email in early September and have been brainstorming outfit ideas, questions for editors, stylist, and designers and practicing how to keep my composer through it all! I am elated to say the least; Teen Vogue has been one of my go to magazines from way back when… This is going to be a weekend to remember. My schedule consists of an Opening party at H&M the Friday night, followed by a full day of industry professionals such as: Philip Lim, Oliver Theyskens, Pamela Love, Christian Siriano, various stylists, and an Editors panels. If that wasn’t enough an exclusive party at TopShop to round out the Saturday portion. To close off the weekend a final presentation at the Hudson Theatre and the cremé de la cremé Graduation! Stay tuned for my posts of the weekend’s recap and the many festivities to come. Follow me on Twitter: (@CoppinIesha) and on Instagram: (Iesherrzz) to get live coverage of each event I attend. Until next time… Stay fashionable and fabulous.

SonsiFFFWeek "Curves in the City"

Friday I attended the Sonsi FFFWeekCurves in the City” shopping event with my darling mother. Seeing that I am a petite plus-size female I thought this would be a great chance to check out the new full figured fashions out there, and being able to see the various designers getting my name out there as a new blogger and fashion writer on the scene. This event surely did not disappoint hosted at the (Affinia Hotel) on 7th avenue and 31st street, I walked into a sea of vendors, clothing, and jewelry it was as if I died and went to big girl fashion heaven. Shopping at vendors such as (Queen Grace, Empress Lingerie, Pop Up Plus NY, and Ose Vintage); I found a lot of great finds with fabulous prices that won’t break the bank. As I made my way around the room I talked to each designer, networking and inquiring about future internships everyone was so nice and welcoming some even taking my picture adoring my style, but out of everyone the one vendor that stuck out the most was Ose [ushseh] who is geared towards vintage full-figured fashions. Anyone who knows me knows I have a vintage fashion fetish, as I began speaking to her she told me she is a graduate of LIM College of where I currently attend as a Fashion Merchandising student it seemed to be faith that led me to her. Did I mention she is also looking for an intern for the fall how lucky was I taking a few pictures of her she was so warm and friendly not to forget fashionable in her vintage teal jumpsuit. I had a great time and can’t wait for what other surprises the summer has in store. If you want to purchase any of these items or check out these designers I will leave their websites and names at the bottom.

Suit Up or Ship Out

This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of assisting on a television commercial for Fidelity Bank, with stylist Cliff Hoppus. Cliff also was a guest speaker in my fashion styling class this semester and assisted on our final photo-shoot. I had a wonderful time and learned a lot of great tips. After getting lost trying to find the building, hopping into a cab that almost took me downtown, and almost spent $10 I arrived very much on time, dare I say before time. Number one tip always leave yourself enough time when arriving for any event, appointment, internship etc. you never know what will happen. I arrived around 10:45am which I was supposed to be there at 11am I always love to be early especially with first impressions. For this commercial, it basically consisted of a bank teller in front of a green screen. In styling when working with green screens you have to be very careful not use green or the background will reflect on the clothes, but they wanted to incorporate a green tie to match the Fidelity Bank’s colors and esthetic. Laid out on the table were various ties from, Michel Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren just to name a few. Pulling clothes from Mayc’s, The Men’s Wear House, and Nordstrom; the suits ranged from grey, charcoal, and deep navy blue. After trying many different combinations everyone came to a decision of choose the deep navy suit, with a white button down collar shirt, a horizontal stripped tie, and black leather shoes. The model looked great, but of course nothing is perfect and a stylist job is never done; the pant and jacket needed to be tailored, and the collar shirt needed a longer sleeve. After packing up I ran over to the tailor to drop of the suit and Cliff took it amongst himself to get the collar shirt from Macy’s. A day well spent, Cliff also asked me to assist him on and editorial shoot for next weekend where he will be styling for two 8 page spread magazines. Stay Tuned….

Only the Beginning...

Where oh where do I begin? Well my name is Iesha Coppin a 19 year old New York City fashion student studying business and fashion. After much time, consideration, and inspiration from fellow bloggers that I have grown to love over the years I found it was time for me to embark among the bloggers-sphere. Better late than never I always say. With pursuits of wanting to be a fashion journalist/editor and editorial stylist I felt this would be a great platform and a kick in the right direction. By now I’m sure you’re wondering what my blog will be about or “here we go again another fashion blog. What makes her so special?” I’m sure you know so well no two things are alike; here I will share my inspirations, aspirations, music, art,  personal style as a plus size blogger, and the various opportunities that present themselves as I make my way through this crazy, hectic, yet rewarding industry. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more.
